To Renew or Not to Renew - That is the question..

Following on from my post about agile certifications out there (Found here - https://lnkd.in/duDTFFu

I feel compelled to share the following image showing what some of the top training providers say about certification renewals.

In many cases, renewals don't include any additional exams to demonstrate continued understanding of content, or to evidence that a learner has kept up to date with revisions, it is simply a contract you're renewing. Are we therefore only renting our certifications?

When a certification expires, does it mean we no longer retain the knowledge and more importantly, hands on application of that knowledge in a business context?

Has anyone actually ever renewed a certification?

Kudos to ICAgile & Scrum.org for being forward thinking & focusing on helping their customers with an ongoing journey as opposed to profiteering through renewal fees.

- Surprised to learn that your certification is essentially the same as taking up a new phone contract and requires renewal?

- Feeling as I do that providers are focusing more on profiteering over helping learners with ongoing content?

Take action and vote with your feet.

Call out the the providers and give feedback on the value you are getting as customers

Celebrate with me that your certification has expired by sharing pictures of them
